After publishing I Like Hong Kong… Art and Deterritorialization in 2010, professor Frank Vigneron (chairperson and professor, Fine Arts Department, The Chinese University of Hong Kong) continues his investigations into the local art field with Hong Kong Soft Power. Art Practices in the Special Administrative Region, 2005-2014. Whereas I Like Hong Kong studied the idea of a local culture in a global context by observing the evolving notion of a cultural identity in the works of local artists, Hong Kong Soft Power is an in-depth survey of the new art ecology that emerged in the SAR a few years ago and continues to grow and have effects.
