Phoebe Man’s Socially Engaged Art Book Launch

Phoebe Man’s Socially Engaged Art Book Launch Phoebe Man has created nine series of socially engaged art within 4 years (2012-6). They are related to issues of sexual assault, housing problem and politics. There were more than ten thousand participants of these projects. These nine projects have been complied to a book with her own as well as the participants’ reflections and also about how her strategies of making socially engaged art changed over the period. The book launch has invited Chan Yuk Keung and Phoebe Wong as guests to discuss Phoebe Man’s works and the observation and reflections of socially engaged art in Hong Kong. Introduction of the artist: Phoebe Ching Ying MAN – Assistant Professor of School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong, specializing in Hong Kong socially engaged art, Hong Kong video art and women art. Introduction of the guests: (The list below is in alphabetical order.) Chan Yuk Keung – Adjunct Professor of Department of Fine Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong, area of expertise: public art, Hong Kong art, western painting, mixed media and installation. Phoebe Wong - Independent researcher and writer, studied design and cultural anthropology, specializing in Hong Kong design, art and visual culture.
